The Abbey Pub

When I started writing these journal entries, I had planned on a lot of wacky stories about our live ventures. I have to say that, to some degree, the wackiness has calmed down considerably… and Tim and I love to look back on those times and thank GOD that things have calmed down recently. I mean, we started out at a bar with a guy who was tanked by the time we showed up, shot off a fire extinguisher during our gig, then passed out before he paid us. We are glad to say that it’s been a steady climb up ever since.

Now, we’re playing for cats like Sean at the Abbey and Rich at Uncommon Ground who treat us like guests of honor at a rock and roll banquet: they know who we are, they plan for our arrival, they help set us up and help make us sound great. No fire extinguishers necessary… unless Tim’s guitar playing gets too hot or we have to separate us from our wild and crazy fans.

The stories aren’t as frequent. That’s not to say that I don’t think more random crap will happen to us along the way. It is to say that we’re enjoying a lull of ridiculousness. The less nonsense, the more we can concentrate on playing. We had a great time playing on Friday, too. Playing for two hours allowed us the opportunity to play stuff that hadn’t made the song list in a while and some covers we’ve been longing to play or play again. All in all, good times, great lakes.

So, needless to say, the gig was great. Thanks to everyone who turned out for it! We really appreciate coming out on the same weekend as the opening weekend for Star Wars. We realize that you have many options of what to do with your Friday night and we thank you for choosing QU.
