HogHead McDunna’s

Though it may have been 70 degrees outside, it was hot up in HogHead’s… and I’m not just referring to Tim’s beefcake shirt. Nope, it was hot-hot-hot. Audience members who were standing still were sweating by the end of the show. You can only imagine me and Tim underneath spotlights, moving around, playing and singing… yup… it’s a tasty image… sweat pouring down our faces, arms and guitars…

The set felt great. We rocked out with a mainly post-Overdogs set, using only “Something I Can Believe” and “Have Mercy” to round a list that included one brand new one, “Do It Again”, and one relatively new one “Broken” (debuted at Wise Fools in February – hasn’t been on the set list since and I’m happy to see it back). Both new ones elicited good responses and felt pretty good to us. We’ll settle into their grooves the more and more we play them. The energy of new songs always carries through the whole set, but it’s even more energizing to hear how new songs will evolve as we get more comfortable with them. Songs like “Let Me Down Easy” and “Exclusively” have taken on a life of their own and just keep getting more fun to play every time.

It was great to be back on stage. After being in Michigan for two weeks directing a staged reading of a screenplay (which went really well and was so much fun), it seemed like we hadn’t played live in so long. It hasn’t really been that long, but anything over a couple of weeks feels like a long time. I think I just love playing live. We both do.

Thanks to everyone who came to the gig and those who hung out with us afterwards! Hope to see you again at Wise Fools on the 14th!
